Often described as "The Ultimate Filler," a person's own fat cells may actually be close to the ideal: our own fat cells are readily available, have the proper temperature and consistency, will not induce an immune ('graft versus host') response and look, feel and behave just like their neighboring fat cells (biocompatibility). Your fat cells are layered into the recipient areas so as to maximize contact and to re-establish a blood supply to these living cells. While a percentage of fat cells fail to 'take,' we note a gratifying enhancement of curvature in our patient population nonetheless. If you are planning on some liposculpture, consider the possibility of a fat transfer to provide some 'curvature enhancement.'
